Working alongside sector specialists to bring complex techniques to life.
MySkill is an NZQA registered private training establishment with over 20 years of experience delivering high-quality, relevant and culturally appropriate online and face-to-face training.
They are also the only national training provider led by, and dedicated to, the aged care, disability and home and community health sector.
MySkill has over 13,000 team members who needed to be upskilled in first response skills. This was no easy task, and given the additional challenges of covid, a geographically spread workforce and prohibitive cost, it was almost impossible to bring everyone together to train this in a traditional face-to-face environment.
MySkill approached RedSeed, with the brief that they needed a selection of videos that showed first response techniques in action. These videos would then be embedded into their online training.
It was vital that support workers could relate to these videos, so RedSeed’s experienced Instructional Designer worked alongside MySkill’s subject matter experts and industry leads to develop content that reflected current practices, used simple language, represented everyday people and was credible. No easy task!
RedSeed used its pool of actors in the main roles and then worked seamlessly with MySkill to engage ‘extras’ from the sector, including amazing people from the New Zealand Spinal Trust and New Zealand Health Group.
Within a month, MySkill was presented with seven videos that supported their DRSABCD, Agonal Breathing, CPR, Defibrillator, Choking, Stable side position and Stop and Watch content.
“We now have a set of videos that are unique to MySkill. They represent our sector, are clear, easily understood, informative and visually interesting. They show situations that any of our team may experience in their day-to-day work, and, together with our awesome and comprehensive eLearning content, means that our team can train and upskill anywhere and anytime.” — Anita Guthrie, General Manager
